Congratulations! You’re newly engaged to the love of your life, and now one of the busiest seasons of your life begins. You likely have one million things to plan, but hopefully this guide will take a large load off your plate. 

Bridal registries have evolved over the past several decades. And while it’s socially acceptable to register for nearly anything in 2025, sometimes a bride needs help with a good foundation. So, here’s Gourmet & Company’s guide to a good foundation. In this ultimate guide, we’ll address three main categories: kitchen, bath, and home decor.

This category is what we would consider to be the absolute core of a bride’s registry. Your dishes and serveware are the building blocks of your entire kitchen, and the kitchen is often the foundation for the rest of the home. We minimally recommend registering for a dinner plate, salad plate, a mug, and at least one style of bowl. Your selection should reflect your long-term tastes and preferences, because these pieces are often your foundation for many years to come.

There are generally only two phases in your life where people are this generous, and your wedding is one of them.
