How to Wedding Shop for a Couple That's Already Established
We’ve all been to a wedding where the couple is hard to buy for. Whether they already have a well-stocked home, have lived together a long time already, are entering a second marriage, or whatever the case may be, some couples can require a little more thinking when it comes to purchasing an appropriate wedding gift. This is particularly the case if the couple does not have a registry, which is quite common. But, fear not! Here are some tips to help you think outside the box, and a list of our favorites at the end!
Our biggest recommendation is to think about what you already know of this couple. Do they entertain often? Do they have a particular interest in barware? Do they have classic and timeless taste? Are they more out-of-the-box and eclectic? These are your biggest clues as to what to shop.
In addition to your biggest clues, we would like to offer three gift-giving rules of thumb that are particularly useful in this situation. The first rule is give the recipients something they know they need and want. This is most common with a typical registry situation. The second is to give the recipients something they’ve never seen before but would love. A wonderful example of this is a glass Simon Pearce tree. The third is to give the recipient an elevated or upscale version of something they already have. A great example of this is a sleek butter dish from Montes Doggett. And when in doubt, a safe bet is always some precious Christmas serveware.
If asking these questions still has you stumped, here’s our go-to list of gifts to give a couple that’s well-established:
